supercade…

January 2nd, 2003

I’m getting all teary-eyed here reading Supercade: A Visual History of the Videogame Age 1971-1984. Even though I didn’t own a game console, I think I played most of these games at one point or another. I did have an Atari 130XE, and a friend gave me copies of a bunch of games, most of which are shown in this book. Ah, what I wouldn’t do to relive those countless hours playing Spy Hunter. Which, by the way, they’re making a movie of. Geez.

Seeing a picture of the Famicom brought back memories of me spending time with my cousins in Thailand. Even though we probably didn’t understand every other word we said to one another, video games was an international language itself. Oh, for the uninitiated, Famicom is the Japanese version of the old Nintendo Entertainment System. Super Famicom was the Japanese version of Super Nintendo. And so forth.

Oh, and happy new year!
