The Half-Asleep Prince
July 16th, 2005
I got it.
A co-worker and I attended a book release event at the local Border’s bookstore. There were little tables set up around the store with activities for the kids: a face painting table, a guess the Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans table, a craft table, and a trivia/crossword puzzle table.
It was really neat to see to bookstore crowded with kids of all ages. You had to be careful where you stepped, especially around the manga section, ‘cause kids were sitting all around the place reading while waiting ’til midnight.
I regretted not dressing up, ‘cause there were some really cool costumes. This one person (dressed up as Oliver Wood) created his own broom out of a large branch and palm leaves. He didn’t have a name for it though, so I recommended “The Palm Pilot.”
Yeah, I was amazed he didn’t whack me to death with his broom too.
So, at midnight, I picked up my copy (as well as a copy of Douglas Adam’s The Salmon of Doubt), came home, read until chapter 5, and realized I needed to go to bed or I’ll be crankier than usual at work on Saturday.
I never knew alarm clocks could take so much abuse.
[By the way, I’m processing 60+ copies of the book]
