oh happy days…

I unlocked my DVD player, so now it’s region free! I can watch nearly any DVD I want now, without having to wait for the North American Region 1 version! Sweet…
I’ve watched Ong Bak several times now, and I’m now window shopping at ethaicd.com, hkflix.com, and yessasia.com. Granted, any DVD I want will probably be in some foreign language - but hopefully I can get them with English subtitles. Definetely in my near future shopping cart are:
The Bodyguard - No, not that Kevin Costner/Whitney Houston tripe. From tonyjaa.org: “Chaichol is both devastated and furious when his father, Chot — the richest man in Thailand — is assassinated. He fires Wongkom, his late father’s bodyguard, for failing to do his job and the situation worsens when Chaichol finds out that he himself is now a taregt for snipers. It doesn’t take him long to realize that the only person who can save his life is Wongkom, the devoted bodyguard he recently tossed aside. ”
House of Fury - “Teddy Yu is a Chinese chiropractor and a widowed father of two. But he has led a secret life as a bodyguard for secret agents. Now very some bad guys are threatening him and his kids’ lives unless they give up the goods on the secret agents! ”
Danny The Dog - “Raised to be a mindless killer, a man escapes his master to live a normal life. But when his master returns, he must return to his violent ways if he wants to stay free. ” Eh. I know what you’re thinking - what kind of Jet Li fan am I if I didn’t even get to see the movie in theatres? A bad one. I know. I’ll make it up by watching this several dozen times in a row.
13th District “…a futuristic tale set in Paris in 2013. Raffaelli plays Damien, a member of an elite police force specially trained in martial arts and weapons use for rapid intervention and infiltration in high-risk situations. He takes on his most difficult mission yet to infiltrate a suburban sector controlled by a powerful gang in possession of a weapon of mass destruction in order to stop it from being used.” Yeah, a martial arts movie which doesn’t star Asians AND looks really really good. This I gotta see. Check out the official movie site. All in French though.
Tom Yung Goong - It was just released in theatres in Asia, and seeing as how the Weinsteins have already purchased the North American distribution rights, I’m better off waiting for the DVD.
