toxic books…

May 18th, 2006

Someone asked an interesting question on ask.metafilter - Can public library books harbor bacteria/virii/disease? The general consensus appears to be no, but that anything can technically carry the bad stuff.

Just to be safe, I wash my hands a lot. Especially when dealing with childrens books covered in a film of something you hope is grease or chocolate and not anything else. Or when finding a tampon used as a bookmark.

It wasn’t used, by the way. Thank God, or else I’d be in the midst of a career in studying hamburger patty aerodynamics.

My allergies kicks in anytime someone donates a box of old books. But all the sneezing and coughing is worth it, because we all know how useful an incomplete set of 1973 encyclopedias can be.

if you are reading magyk by sage, then you have to read the second book… flyte (california club has a copy… wonder who donated that?) actually those old encyclopedia sets are useful… we rip them apart for pictures, for a collage workshop we are going to do with the kids during the summer. no true artist lets anything go to waste.
