kowabunga…

On March 30, 1990, one day after my 12th birthday - I was the coolest kid on the block. Why? Because of a new bike? A Nintendo? Nope - because I got to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Movie on opening night. My fascination with TMNT was borderline obsessive. From watching the cartoons every afternoon to wasting away a month’s allowance to beat the arcade game, I couldn’t get enough of ‘em. I remember walking into an old, dusty used book store and finding a reprint of Eastman and Laird’s comic book. That pushed me over the edge.
Years go by, and every now and then I see the new action figures in the toy section, and fight the urge to buy the whole lot. I can barely fight it - but, alas, adulthood forbids me to do so. Damn you, adulthood. Damn you.
And now I see the all new, CGI version of the heroes in a half-shell is coming out next year - one day after my birthday! So, now I have plans set already for my 29th birthday. So, damn adulthood - I’m wearing my Ninja Turtles Underoos (if they fit) and going to be a kid again. If only only for one night.
I just hope those Underoos won’t chaff.

by the way, check out witch hunter robin, an anime series… i thought it was a pretty good storyline. of course the music is cheesy.
