My new, favorite Jet Li movie - and dare I say, martial arts movie - of all time may be Unleashed, or Danny the Dog depending on what side of the ocean you’re from.
This is definetely my favorite Jet Li movie in a modern-day setting, and it didn’t rely too heavily on computer graphics (a […]

I just watched the weirdest thing. It wasn’t the movie that was weird, it was the way I watched it - a French movie, dubbed in Thai, with English subtitles. Playing on my Japanese DVD player.
I just received my copy of Banlieu 13 (District 13) on DVD. It’s a French action movie taking […]

I unlocked my DVD player, so now it’s region free! I can watch nearly any DVD I want now, without having to wait for the North American Region 1 version! Sweet…
I’ve watched Ong Bak several times now, and I’m now window shopping at ethaicd.com, hkflix.com, and yessasia.com. Granted, any DVD I want will probably […]
Kung Fu Hustle…
Sunday, August 14th, 2005
I just finished watching Kung Fu Hustle, and I have mixed feelings about it. Though I did highly enjoy the movie, I wish it just stuck to either being a comedy (nixing the whole mute girl with the lolipop theme) or an action film (nixing the whole Looney-Tunes chase scene.)
In addition, I really wish we […]

Thoughts on Batman Begins…

Batman (1989) - loved it.
Batman Returns (1992) - liked it.
Batman Forever (1995) - eh, Riddler was nice.
Batman and Robin (1997) - so this is what Hell looks like.
Needless to say, I wasn’t putting up much hope for Batman Begins, despite all the talk that this was going a different route than the nippled codpiece.
Boy was […]
last samurai
Sunday, May 22nd, 2005
So, after months and months just sitting there on the bottom of my “to see” stack of DVDs, I finally lifted all that weight off the Last Samurai DVD and decided to see it. Not bad. Not bad at all. A bit condescending at times though. There are a lot of reviews out there, so […]
Episode III - a semi review just in case you haven’t read any reviews of the movie yet. Then again, you’re probably too busy living underneath a rock.
Saturday, May 21st, 2005
Rarely am I at the edge of my seat for an entire movie, but I pretty much was for the entire viewing of Episode III. I probably only leaned back in seat during the poorly-acted romance scenes between Anakin and Padme which probably would fit very well in an episode of All My Children, but […]

The Defender
Dolph Lundgren and Jerry Springer in the same movie? It’s gotta be added to my collection!
